PHUKET: The Phuket International Women’s Club (PIWC) will reached out to yet another flock of young minds with more than 2 million baht worth of scholarships on August 19.

“We want to give a better future to students in financial need. We work closely with schools, colleges and universities as we move through the selection process,” said PIWC Scholarships Chairman Wipa Tanmanatragul.

“Once the facility selects those they believe are in need of the support, we will interview the students.”

from the April lunch…

April luncheon @ Bampot

Approximately 30 members and guest and one darling little toddler! enjoyed a wonderful lunch on April 21st at Bampot Kitchen and Bar. They are not usually open for lunch so we were very privileged that they opened for us. Chef Jamie and his team served a delicious array of food; served family style and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. As it was also Maggy Wigman’s 60th birthday, a special cake was served along with a wonderful donation of bubbles from the birthday girl herself. A very pleasant afternoon indeed.

garden group recap for May

On 24th of May, 5 ladies went out against torrential rain to k. Somchai’s garden to see rare helliconia and few sorts of Musa of different colours. There, they also found other plants which were not grown elsewhere in Phuket such as Monstera deliciosa which they use it’s leaves for flower arrangements. And others are Passiflora foedita ( stinking passion flower,), an interesting sweet fruit when it is ripe. It was an interesting trip and after delicious lunch at Vareeya Resort and Restsurant, we all got home with one or two Gardenia gjllerupii from Joan. Thank you very much.
